EQ-5D-3L

The EQ-5D-3L (EQ-5D 3 level) is available in more than 120 translated versions. Although the EQ-5D-3L was primarily designed for self-completion by the patient or respondent, EQ-5D data can also be collected using the following alternative modes of administration:

EQ-5D-Y

The EQ-5D-Y (EQ-5D Youth version) is an EQ-5D-3L self complete version for children and adolescents aged 7-12 years. It is available in 8 languages. There is also a proxy version for this age group currently only in English.

EQ-5D-5L

The EuroQol Group launched a new EQ-5D-5L (EQ-5D 5 level) self complete version in 2009 with the aim of further improving the sensitivity and reducing ceiling effects of the existing EQ-5D-3L version. This is now available in paper format in more than 30 translations. Future plans include EQ-5D-5L versions in web and tablet format.

EQ-5D bolt-ons/dimension extensions

Bolt-ons (add-ons/dimension extensions) identify key dimensions of HRQol which may be important to patients but are not captured by the EQ-5D. Until now, they have not been part of the EQ research agenda but the EuroQol Executive Committee has approved the development of a systematic, scientifically robust approach to the development of EQ-5D bolt-on dimensions for use in different clinical areas.
